Now here's a job that you'd definitely want on your resume -- although those who live and work in Sanford might have a leg up in winning. It's the job of Sanford's Celery King and Celery Queen, whose main responsibilities will be "creatively" fundraising for Sanford's production of the ongoing community-theater project Celery Soup.

There will be a kick-off reception for the king and queen nominees at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gallery on First, 211 E. First St., downtown Sanford. Here's a little explanation and a website where you can find out more.

Creative Sanford, Incorporated board members will host a Kick Off Reception for the 2009 Celery Ball nominations for King and Queen of the ball. The Celery Ball will be a fundraising event to benefit Celery Soup, the community performance celebrating the stories and history of Sanford and Seminole County which will debut in 2010.

Creative Sanford, Inc. is proud to introduce this group of community minded leaders and their campaign managers (Celery Stalkers) that will creatively fundraise for the development of Celery Soup.

The candidates include: Jacqueline Jones, Brenda Miller, Micky Searcy, Larry Dale, Bill Johnson, and Mike Yebba. These candidates will raise money between October 2008 and Feburary 2009. The candidates who raise the most money will be crowned King and Queen at the Gala Celery Ball in early 2009.

Our Vision: Driving Sanford’s renaissance by celebrating and preserving our community’s stories.
